Intermediate Piano Courseby James Bastien and Jane Bastien
The Intermediate Piano Course is an integrated curriculum that emphasizes graded repertoire, theory, technic, and multiple-key solos-the variety of emphasis that intermediate students require. Because the material has been carefully selected and organized, teachers no longer need to sift through literature and technic studies to find appropriate exercises and etudes. Thoughtfully constructed and presented, this comprehensive course fills an important pedagogical niche and provides a structured program to assure step-by-step development during a critical time in a student's development. The Intermediate Piano Course has 3 levels, with four different books at each level: Repertoire, Technic, Theory, and Multi-key Solos. The Intermediate Piano Course bridges the gap between beginning method books and master classics. For example, students in Level 3 Bastien Piano Basics have begun to acquire the skills and desire necessary to play classical piano literature. These students may be introduced to Piano Literature Volume 1 at the end of Bastien Piano Basics Level 3. At the same time, they may begin intermediate level study in Intermediate Technic 1, Intermediate Theory 1, and Intermediate Muli-key Solos 1. By the time the student has finished Level 4 of Bastien Piano Basics, they are ready to move on to Level 2 of the Intermediate Piano Course, Volume 2 of Piano Literature, or other classics from the master composers. |
